Jumping out of the bed and barely running a comb through one's hair will most definitely make one look messy, not in a good way though, that's for sure! I've always wondered how do girls manage to get a great looking messy ponytail when my ponytail looks like it went through a hectic chicken fight. No kidding.
A messy ponytail is great if you want to step away from your conventional everyday hairstyle and instead try out a hairstyle that adds volume. Although personally, I feel like it's not great to have a messy hairstyle every day but it's worth doing it a few times a month or for a special occasion.
At first, it seemed really quite hard but after finding the following tutorials, I couldn't help but laugh at my stupidity for not finding them earlier. Not only is it quite simple and easy to achieve, it also looks fantastically messy and chic!
1. THE LOW PONYTAIL

It's best if your hair is a little wavy before attempting the hairstyle since the result of achieving the above look will drastically increase. Another great fact about this hairstyle is that if you haven't washed your hair and it's feeling a little dirty, this one will help you feel less miserable, also making it look no way near dirty as it really is!
3. THE HIGH PONY

As a lover of high ponytails, this particular messy ponytail is one of the best ones I've seen yet. To get this look, it is important that your hair is curled since it will be much better to tease later on. A little time consuming but as you can see, the end result is gorgeous.
4. THE DOUBLE PONYTAIL

For an upcoming fancy party, this hairstyle will go with just about any kind of dress. Luckily enough, it's not as hard to do as it may look. The first steps involve getting the poof right and thereafter two elastic bands will become your best friend. Your hair will be separated into two with an elastic band; one small pony on the top and another pony on the bottom. Once you have done this, it will become much easier to start to see a high messy ponytail once the two separated ponytails are tied together and teased.
5. THE CROSSOVER PONYTAIL

The crossover ponytail is one of the simplest and easiest ones out there. All it involves is crossing two sections of hair and an elastic band to secure it in place, as shown above. It's quick, easy and looks really great. I'd say this one would make a stunning back to school hairdo.

8. THE STEP SIDE PONYTAIL

I'm always on the lookout for side ponytails since they look great with any length hair. This particular side ponytail mainly involves twisting the hair to the side and securing it. The side ponytail will go really well if you're planning to wear an open back dress!
